PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Automation Assembly Technician is responsible for working from Solid Works/e-drawing, 2D mechanical, and electrical prints to assemble fabricated parts, purchased components, and wiring into custom builds for our customers. The project process will frequently require the technician to assist in organization of the materials and light fabrication duties. This job requires the technician to work closely with the mechanical and electrical engineering teams on the assembly process. In addition, this technician works closely with others to execute testing procedures on the assembled automation systems.
This is a Full Time, 1st shift, Monday - Friday position.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assembles machinery, fabricated parts, electrical equipment, and more according to designs from the engineering team.
- Assists with production and project work by managing assigned tasks.
- Interprets technical documents, such as diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.
- Aligns, fits, or assembles component parts using hand tools, power tools, fixtures, or templates. Builds ethernet connections, places/mounts/wires sensors.
- Maintains technical and operational documentation.
- Conducts quality inspections on products and parts.
- Performs preventive or corrective maintenance.
- Collaborates with other team members and uses creative problem-solving skills to work through challenges.
- Breaks down completed systems and prepares finished products for shipment.
- Installs finished systems on customer site.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
- Follows all safety rules, such as safe work practices and standard operating procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- High School Diploma, or GED.
- Basic ability in mathematics, reading, and writing.
- Software proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite, and Office 365.
- Experience with hand tools.
- Detail oriented.
- Must be able to work well as a productive member of a team.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with basic electrical assembly.
- Experience with assembly tools and materials.
- Experience in a manufacturing/assembly environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 lbs., and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Prolonged periods of standing and repetitive tasks that require manual dexterity.
- Able to use close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color determination, and adjustment of focus.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear.
- Occasionally required to bend, twist, climb, kneel and balance.
- Repetitive dexterity is required to use hands to grasp, reach and operate objects, tools or controls.
- Occasional exposure to a production environment.
- Must comply with any safety or PPE requirements.

Travel is required approximately 15% of the job.
Travel for this position is generally limited to single days for troubleshooting, service, repair, or installations. Occasional overnight travel may be necessary with stays as long as a week. This travel is typically within a 400-mile radius of the metropolitan Milwaukee area but may be located elsewhere in the contiguous United States.
